Corzine Doesn"t Care About You Or Your Property Taxes

(MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ) -- Schundler for Governor communications director Bill Pascoe -- responding to yet another example of Jon Corzine's insensitivity to the concerns of New Jerseyans -- today issued the following statement:

"Everyone except Jon Corzine seems to recognize that property taxes in New Jersey are too high -- the highest in the country. Maybe that's because one of the reasons New Jerseyans bear such a high property tax burden is that politicians like Jon Corzine pal around with inside players like Orin Kramer, chairman of the $70 billion pension fund of the New Jersey Investment Council.

"This is wacky enough stuff to have New York gossip columnists paying attention to New Jersey politics. Today's Post published the following quote from Orin Kramer, whom the Post identifies only as "somebody hustling for Jon Corzine" and who asks that multi-thousand-dollar contributions be "sent to his New York office":

""Some of us have developed an excess of politicians who are friends and convert into long-term financial liabilities. Even after retirement or defeat, they seek favors. We are only safe through death. If not theirs, they will approach our living relatives."

"Among the reasons Kramer suggests to contribute to Corzine? To help rebut criticism about Corzine's own campaign spending, and to avoid harassment by Kramer's office.

"It's no wonder, when insiders like Kramer are speaking on Corzine's behalf, that Corzine can"t speak to the number one issue New Jerseyans care about: permanent and drastic property tax reform."
