June 1, 2005 "Gov. Jim Florio Continues To Lead Christine Todd Whitman in the Closing"
"Gov. Jim Florio continues to lead Christine Todd Whitman in the closing days of the gubernatorial campaign . . . according to a new Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll. Florio, the Democratic incumbent seeking his second term, held a nine-point lead over Whitman, the Republican challenger, among likely voters . . . in the latest Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll, Florio was ahead among likely voters 48 to 39 percent, with 13 percent undecided . . . Among a smaller group of "probable" voters, defined as likely voters with the greatest probability of voting Tuesday, Florio lead with 50 percent to 40 percent with 10 percent undecided."
-- David Wald, Newark Star-Ledger, October 31, 1993
FINAL ELECTION RESULTS, NOVEMBER 2, 1993:
Christine Todd Whitman 1,236,124 49%
Gov. Jim Florio 1,210,031 48%
(EDITOR's NOTE: And remember, this was a GENERAL election poll that came out two days before the election. Imagine how much more difficult it will be to properly predict the outcome of a primary election, which is almost TOTALLY dependent on who turns out to vote.)
